After Jesus died and rose again He left His followers with the responsibility of proclaiming the Gospel to all the world. Those who received the Good News through repentance and belief were instructed by Jesus to be baptized.

At The Chapel Church, we follow Jesus' commission to preach the Gospel and to baptize those who surrender themselves to Jesus as Savior and Lord. We encourage all to surrender their lives to Christ and then to be baptized.

WHAT IS BAPTISM AND WHAT ISN'T BAPTISM

Ideally, baptism is the Christian's first act of obedience to Christ after repenting and believing in Him. It is an expression of being united with Christ in newness of life. However, the Gospel of Jesus Christ does not say that the act of baptism is necessary for one to receive salvation from sins. The gospel declares that a man is saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Nevertheless, the proclamation of faith in Jesus and the act of baptism are highly connected. The Apostle Peter presented the very first gospel message after Jesus ascended to heaven. In the message, he declared the divine order.

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)

SHOULD I GET BAPTIZED?

If you are believer in Jesus Christ and you have not been baptized, then, "Yes, you should be baptized."
Why?

1. It is an act of obedience to the Lord's command. (Matthew 28:19)
2. It identifies you with the work of Christ. Putting off the old life and taking on new life in Christ. (Rom 6:1-6)
3. It is a public declaration of faith to God, to your church, to your family, and to the saved and unsaved community.
