Alex and Laura first stepped out onto the mission field in February 2008. The Lindsay's passion for making disciples was a perfect fit for their role at the Calvary Chapel Austrian Retreat Center, where Alex had the spiritual oversight of the many young men and women who would come to the center for discipleship.
After officially entering the pastorate in 2012, Alex took over the spiritual oversight of a small Bible study group in the nearby city of Klagenfurt in May 2013. As the Lord confirmed their calling to the city, Alex and Laura took a step of faith and obedience and relocated to the city in order to better establish the church plant. Alex and Laura remain committed to the establishment of City Chapel Klagenfurt as a healthy biblical church, through which the gospel can be both proclaimed and displayed through healthy, vibrant church members.
Alex and Laura are blessed to have four children: Grace, Livia, Caleb and Emily.
The Ends of the Earth
Bachiniva, Mexico
Jason has been involved in ministry fsince the late 1990s. Having grown up in a Christian home, he began leading worship for his youth group at the age of 14. Over the following years, Jason had the opportunity to continue leading worship at various churches, as well as playing with local and national Christian recording artists.
Although Jason had head knowledge of who Jesus was, it hadn't yet settled in the depths of his heart. He was more focused on "religion" rather than a "relationship" with Jesus. After two years of backsliding and not walking with the Lord, God led Jason to Vajta, Hungary for a semester of Bible college. Jason was faced with the question in his Church History class, "Why do you believe what you believe?" Over an eight month period, God revealed Himself in a way that Jason had never experienced before...and his life has never been the same since.
Upon returning to the States, Jason moved to Puyallup, Washington, where he went on staff at South Hill Calvary Chapel as the Youth and Worship Pastor. Jason and his wife Jacklyn were married the summer of 2005, and continued serving at SHCC together. In 2010, God opened up a tremendous opportunity for them to adopt their daughter, Ayantu Faith, from Ethiopia. Ayantu was found abandoned in a road a few days after being born. She was brought to the local police station where the officer named her "Ayantu", which means "blessed for the future".
In the fall of 2011, the Lord began stirring in Jason's heart that something was about to change. Unsure of what that would be or look like, he continued to pray and seek the Lord. In April of 2012, the Lord unveiled the new chapter in their life...to move to Bachiniva, Mexico and start an orphanage. Jason and Jackie relocated to Mexico permanently in 2013 to serve as the directors of Casa De Bendicion (House of Blessing) Orphanage.
Bachiniva, Mexico
In 2003, Luis and Kim moved down to Bachiniva, Mexico, a small pueblo in the mountains of Chihuahua. The Lord has laid the people there and especially the children on the Vargas' hearts. Soon, the great need for a solid, Bible teaching church was evident. That summer, Capilla Calvario de Bachiniva began. The church meets for Sunday and Wednesday services and seeks to be a blessing to the community.
Today, the church continues to grow and disciple many new believers. Each year, The Chapel Church sends missions teams to come alongside the church and to minister to the people of Bachiniva.
